A mere month before our story takes place, reports were heard around the globe about people hearing voices in their head that were not their own. Some said that the voices were similar to ones of people they knew, and others said that they were strange, foreign, and unfamiliar.
Eventually, it was revealed that these voices were, in fact, telepathic thoughts that most commonly occurred in pairs of two (or occasionally more) people being able to communicate with each other through their minds. The phenomenon seemed to only affect people over the age of ten.
