Black blood, also known as Nightblood, was a serum created by a scientist named Dr Beck. Now Dr Beck had created the serum for the greater good but sadly she was assassinated and it fell into the wrong hands. HYDRA had taken the serum and experimented on test subjects (aka children they had kidnapped). Most of them died from radiation poisoning, the doctors and scientists have no idea why. The logic behind this was a safety measure for Beck, as only the people that can absorb the radiation from the source of the serum and have it enhance your body peacefully without fighting it, you will be accepted as a nightblood and soon your heart will start pumping the black blood instead of the red blood.
