Established and acquired by Ali Vongsathian on July 17, 2021, during the annual Pokémon GO Fest Global Event, Pokémon GO San Diego is one of the largest user-based community groups. Created as a Facebook Messenger group called "Pokémon GO City Heights" for the public use of premium raid passes in a specific area, it eventually merged with Discord and was rebranded as "Pokémon GO San Diego" on August 17, 2021.
